Award ceremony for PhD degree
The last step on the way towards a PhD degree is constituted by participation in the award ceremony. This ceremony at the HSG derives from an ancient academic tradition, according to which the PhD degree is awarded by the President in person. Please note that your studies only come to a conclusion when the PhD degree certificate is handed over.
PhD degree
Once you have been notified of the grades with the acceptance of your defence and your docotoral thesis, you may style yourself "Dr.des." (designatus/designata). The add-on "des." can be dropped when you have received your PhD degree certificate.
Ceremony
The next award ceremony for PhD degrees will take place in the Audimax of the University of St. Gallen on Monday, 14 September 2020 at 5.15 p.m. You will receive an admission ticket and an additional five guest tickets for this ceremony. They will be sent in late August together with the invitation to the award ceremony for PhD degrees.
Subsequent to the ceremony, all participants are cordially invited to an aperitif in the Foyer of the Main Building. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to have your photograph taken at the stand of Foto Lautenschlager - in gown and mortarboard, together with family or friends, as a lasting memory.
